In painting I hope to enliven our connection to soul/spirit and to create a refuge from the increasingly commercial and homogeneous landscapes we inhabit. The imagery in my work which often includes references to fertility, growth, transcendence and the nature of creativity is not predetermined, but develops in the process of an improvisational approach to painting. The work invites narrative speculation and exploits the resonances between emotions, natural landscapes and the materials used to make the painting.
